Peter Marren

Peter Marren b.1950. Naturalist and writer, author of The New Naturalists (1995) and Nature Conservation (2002).
Peter Marren has been fascinated by wildlife from early childhood. He was educated at Loughborough College School, Exeter University and University College, London, where he studied nature conservation. This lead  to work with The Nature Conservancy Council as a scientist and conservation officer.  More recently he has become an independent consultant, writer and journalist. He loves to find out about things that interest him, and then write about them. Short pieces, including obituaries, become newspaper and magazine articles, while extended ones become books. He has written nearly twenty books on topics ranging from wild flowers and woodlands to bibliography, military history and rural life. Peter has a regular column in British Wildlife magazine ‘Twitcher in the Swamp’, extracts from which were published in the amusing book ‘Twitching through the Swamp’. He has also recently completed work on Bugs Britannica, which will be published in October along with the highly anticipated book with Robert Gillmor on the New Naturalist jackets.
