The latest festival in honour of the great Bill Condry (author of Snowdonia & Wales) is held at the very lovely venue Y Tabernacl, in Machynlleth just outside the Southern edge of Snowdonia on Sat 16th Oct 2010.

Full details here. An outstanding programme imho (click on full programme for further details)...

Incidentally, if anybody from here is going, let me know as I've (stupidly!) got a spare ticket.

I would very much have liked to attend this Festival of Nature Writing if I had been in England.

The Guardian pays tribute to its long-time contributor (and NN author) in its issue of 22 October.

I'll have to make do with the Guardian's centenary celebration of its Country Diary  "A Gleaming Landscape" edited by Martin Wainwright (Aurum)

Pity you'd have been in the wrong country, then, John... ;-)

Ha Hengus! I anticipated this as soon as I'd sent it. Actually, when we go over to the UK it's always England (or Scotland) we arrive in as there aren't any direct flights to Cardiff. So mentally I was in England before travelling on to Wales. No nationality slight intended!

John

And none taken! I'm neither English or Welsh (despite thinking of the latter as home). I'm from Yorkshire. ;-)

Looks like there has been some weird kind of semi-secret falling out between the Festival and the National Library of Wales who organised it for the last couple of years....it is now going to be a smaller one evening lecture only...but that should mean it is sustainable and has a strong future. I'll post more details when I know them...
