Hi Mike - Climate and Weather will be limited to just 75 copies, as was the case with Bird Migation and Badger. These books are available exclusively through the Collins New Naturalist website and not available through trade (unless they buy from us first). We have introduced a pre-order offer of £199 to reward keen buyers, but the price will revert to full price, £250 on publication date which is October 14th. Please note that leatherbound editions now come with dustjackets signed by Robert Gillmor. They continue to be signed inside by the author and numbered from 1-75. The leather is soft so as to cleanly absorb the gold leaf stamping of the NN logo and title into the spine. The pages are also gilt-edged. They are delivered free of charge by courrier to your address, and require signature on delivery. The packaging consists of paper wrapper, bubble wrap and hard cardboard container to protect the book.

Alex - this 20% pre-order offer is a very generous one from HarperCollins. I have pre-ordered Climate and Weather even though I did not in the end buy the leather bound "Badger". I found the £250 price tag for a monograph about one animal less appealing given I already had the standard edition. Anyway it seems the next two titles are going to be "Plant Pests" and Plant Galls" according to NHBS. If this is the case you can count on me to pre-order these two as well if you can maintain the special offer for these future editions. Thx Andy

That's good to hear Andy, and currently yes we do plan to keep the pre-order offer going for future leatherbound editions.

Hi Paul, the simple answer is that these are beautiful limited edition books - bound by hand not machine, gilt-edged and hand-embossed on high quality leather. They are costly and time-consuming to produce (which is why they become available a few weeks after the HB pub date). In recognition that these are not for everyone, we also limit the print run to just 75 copies per title, which in turn adds to their value. They are individually numbered and signed by the author, and include a dustjacket signed by the illustrator, Robert Gillmor. The leatherbound editions are part of a range of New Naturalist editions to suit collectors and straight-forward fans of the content alike.

Alex - I notice that the older leatherbounds are nolonger on sale through your website but HC is still selling them through ebay. Judging by the low numbered "Dartmore" I recently ordered you still have quite a few copies of some of these. Have you taken them off this website cos its easier to just sell them through ebay? Just wondering as I am saving up to try and get some more of the earlier ones and their sudden disappearence from this website was rather unexpected (and worrying) - Thanks Andy

Hi they should still be showing up here, so looks like a technical glitch we need to fix. The ebay feed is taken from the same stock report as this website so if showing on ebay it means we have that book. (NB we set up ebay to increase our market reach not as as replacement to this site). We'll get the full list of leatherbound editions loaded up here asap.

Alex - thanks again from replying and sorting out the problem. I am saving up for leatherbound vols 107, 109, 110 amd 114. I don't suppose you would be able to suggest which of these I should buy first to reduce the risk of losing out?! Thanks

You should be fine on all titles so I'd suggest you select the one that appeals most to you.
