I also am looking forward to bacteria as a forthcoming Title - The Natural History of Bacteria could be made into so much more exciting a topic than the usual textbooks on bacteria - I Find it fascinating that bacteria can survive at the bottom of the ocean and not use a metabolism dependant on oxygen - that possibly they can survive temperatures above the boiling point of water (They do survive in geysers don't they?) - why are some so virulent eg Anthrax, Plague whilst others eg coliforms are generally not so nasty - Why do Mycobacteria seem to give vertebrate immune systems such a hard time (eg Tuberculosis) - The potential for the book is huge
