| Here's one to ponder Collins. Now that Collins are producing POD and facsimile volumes. I wondered whether they will consider producing dust jackets only to order? I have a number of early volumes which I am quite happy with but would love to have a them in their corresponding jackets. These could be produced and clearly marked as reprints on the inside. It would smarten up many collections without the need for spending £50+ for a book you have already got. it would also be a great "thank you" for customer loyalty! this would surely not be that difficult to organise. What do others think? over to you Collins FT

| Fen Tiger, There's another thread on this topic at http://www.newnaturalists.com/Forums/Topic39-16-1.aspx There are other Forum members who would also like to purchase facsimile covers, although the last thread didn't solicit a response from Collins! Perhaps you'll have more luck by starting a new one. Bill

| Yes........I'll back this one too! We, & I didn't get a reply from the last 'appeal' to Collins for these Dustjackets. A few (ie Birdnet) do decent copies but they're not actually printed by Collins which some of us actually want. It is only a piece of paper at the end of the day!! It seems daft to purchase another book with a dustjacket on to get the dustjacket for your original book with a substandard or worse state dustjacket! Comments please? Lee Slaughter.

Lee Slaughter.
It it's 'only a piece of paper' and other people already do decent copies at reasonable rates, then why exactly do you need Collins to print some for you? Just because they are printed by Collins won't make them any more original than the copies that (for instance) Birdnet do....will it?

Just because they are printed by Collins won't make them any more original than the copies that (for instance) Birdnet do....will it? No; it will never make them original of course, but Collins actually producing them may just suit some of us who still want a Collins produced copy/facsimile D/J and who are less able/unable to afford true originals by say purchasing an out of reach priced book for it's cover. This takes nothing away from the likes of Birdnet who I'm sure produce, so I've heard, as good a copy N/N D/J as you can get. If Collins can produce them for facsimile versions (ie: no's 1-10 facsimile versions last year) then surely they can produce them individually for collectors of their books who are willing to part with their money? How many people have a totally unfaded 'Butterflies' by E.B.Ford 1st edition D/J? Nearly all of them seem to suffer from some element of fading or sunning of the spine! I preferred the original early D/J for this brilliant book rather than the later editions of it that were darker (especially the green colouring)! Thoughts anyone? Lee
