| The closest we have come to learning anything about this is a link to a newspaper column written by someone who didn't actually attend. Is there anyone on this Forum who did? Was the event up to expectation? The New Nats' club website hasn't been up-dated for a long time so nothing to glean there.

It was fantastic!
Held at the Nature in Art gallery at Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, Gloucester.
(Literally) dozens of NN authors in attendance. A welcome from Myles Archibald of Collins. Then a superb and hilarious talk by Steffan Buczacki entitled 'Living with the New Naturalists - confessions of a book collector'. Steffan has what we have. And believe me, he has it bad.
An illuminating talk from Sam Berry on 'Islands followed tea and coffee. Then lunch and the official launch of the Art of the New Naturalists with a signing from Robert Gillmor and Peter Marren who then launched the afternoon session with a fascinating talk. Seeing the cover of Nature Publishing in Britain was one of the highlights of that talk.
Then tea and onto George Peterkin giving an interesting talk on Meadows. Personally, this felt a little TOO much like a pitch to Myles for my liking, but was fascinating nonetheless.
Signature fetishists were well catered for, and there were 5 booksellers present (C.Arden, Loe, Birdnet, Calluna and 1 other) so anyone who had a burning desire to lose a few thousand pounds was catered for.
A great event, and from what I gather Tim Bernhard is planning on running another event in 2011. Don't miss that one.

| And incidentally, whilst there I picked up a nice bit of advertising material for the whole series from Collins. It's an A5 sheet with an order form on the rear that folds out into an A2 sized poster of The Fox, an unused picture for a title that never appeared. Very good advertising actually....must have costs a bit to produce. Very classy.

| This talk on meadows sounds very interesting - was it just a lecture or is it a possible subject for a New Naturalist ??

Well it was 'just' a lecture, but there were several jokes about it being a pitch for a contract, and the main man was sitting about 6 feet away from the lecturer, laughing away, so I certainly wouldn't bet any money against it!

| Hi, I have been so busy since the very successful NN symposium and launch of 'The Art of the New Naturalists', that I have not had the chance to up date the Club website. I am just about to down load a large selection of photographs taken at the New Naturalist Collectors Club symposium held in Gloucester on 12th October. These will be available to view on the Club webiste (www.thenewnaturalistcollectorsclub.co.uk) in a week or so. The winter newsletter will also feature a full report on the sympsoium and will be available towards Christmas. Please let me know if anyone would like a copy. There will almost certainly be another symposium, probably in 2011, and at a different venue, possibly Cambridge....more information on this next year.... Cheers Tim
